My name is Amanda, but my family calls me Mandy, which I love. There’s something special
about having a family nickname. I am the youngest of two children. I have one older brother,
who is married and has three children–two sons and one daughter. I cherish every minute of
being their aunt. They have taught me so much and are truly my pride and joy. I am also
blessed to be called “Aunt Mandy” by a close friends daughter, whom she adopted
domestically at birth.
My brother and I were raised by our parents, who taught us to value our family and our faith in
God. They also showed us the meaning of love and a strong marriage, serving the community,
and the importance education and hard work. Because of the values I learned from my family, I
became a compassionate and dependable woman who loves God, family, and serving others.
I love being around children and working with our refugee community, but my day job is a
senior accountant at a local corporate office. I have been employed with the same company for
over 15 years. The company is focused on establishing a great family and work life balance and
offers a flexible work schedule. I work from home one and half days, and I am off every Friday
afternoon.

My home is a comfortable, three-bedroom two bath house and is the perfect size for myself
and my future children. I love decorating and have dreamed of the day I would become a
mother. So of course, the first two rooms I decorated were rooms for my future children. One
room is the nursery, and the spare room is designed for older children. The children in my life
have really enjoyed these rooms.
I love being outside, so my favorite place would have to be my patio. I love making smores with
my family and friends or just relaxing in my hammock, which is also my dog’s favorite place to
nap.
My dog, Charlie, is a spoiled, cocker spaniel poodle mix. He is great around children, loves to
play, and has the best personality of any dog I have ever owned. I know he is going to be a great
playmate for my future child
My family has always been close knit. My entire family lives within an hour of each other and
sees one another on a regular basis. We love being together!! There is always something going
on — whether it be family dinners and birthday parties, game nights, family road trips or
extended vacations. We love to laugh, have fun, and are big huggers. Our favorite time is by far
is Christmas! We get together for our annual Gingerbread House Decorating, fill shoeboxes for
the National Operation Christmas Shoebox Campaign, go on a Christmas Light Hunt, and enjoy
our potluck brunch Christmas morning!
My mom is a retired schoolteacher and has worked with children of all abilities and ages over
the years. Now that she is retired, she wants nothing more than to babysit her future
grandchild and is dreaming of the memories she will make with him or her. My future child is
going to have so many fun adventures with their Nana– whether it be baking cookies, chasing
fireflies, or even playing in the mud!
Growing up, my dad performed as a clown and did magic shows. He could always make us
smile! He passed away in 2021, just 6 months after I started my journey to motherhood. He was
super excited to welcome home a new grandbaby. I miss my dad every day and cannot wait to
share stories about my dad with my future child.
“When Mandy’s father passed away, we promised to step in. We are committed to encouraging
and supporting Mandy and her future child and being involved in their life. We cannot wait to
love and spoil our future great-niece or nephew.” – quote by my Aunt Wanda & Uncle Lemual
My support system not only includes my family, but also includes my friends from work and
church. My friends and I enjoy serving together and love to meet for dinner, take road trips,
visit escape rooms, attend concerts, and get together for other various activities. My friends are
so excited about my plans to become a mother and are very supportive. They are committed to
encouraging my future child throughout their life!
“I met Amanda about 8 years ago through a street ministry where we serve together. She is one
of the most selfless and kind-hearted individuals I have ever met. She gives so much of herself
to the children in our community through various ways; whether using her photography skills to
capture some of the most tender moments, helping provide a meal for a needy family, helping
children with homework, or just showing up in a low-income neighborhood to love on children.
Amanda will be an AMAZING mother one day, and I cannot wait to witness this sweet lady
become the mother that I know God has called her to be.” – quote by my friend and mentor, Ms.
Cathy
I will pray for you, your family, and your child.
I will provide your child with a safe, healthy, and nurturing home where we will share love,
laughter, and cherished memories.
I will give your child my attention, spend lots of quality time together, and set aside time for
family date nights.
I will not be perfect, but I will strive to live a Godly life and set the best example I can for your
child.
I will surround your child with a village of love, support, and encouragement throughout his or
her life.
I will ensure someone is always there to welcome your child home from school, even if I cannot
be there.
I will make sure your child has educational opportunities and the chance to participate in
activities within the community where their individual talents may flourish.
I will encourage your child to dream big and be one of their biggest fans.
I will join a local adoption support group at my church where my family and your child will have
an opportunity to build relationships with other families who have adopted.
There will be open communication – no questions will ever be off limits. Your child will know
their adoption story and how loved they always have been and will be by you and your family.
