Hello, we are Brian and Tara! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. First of all, let us say we admire your strength and selflessness as you navigate your adoption journey. We believe the adoption process can be summed up by one word, love.
Our story began in the spring of 2017 when we met for our first date, dinner and a walk through a nearby park. Sparks flew and after that our love for each other grew rapidly. We celebrated one of the best days of our lives when we were married in the summer of 2018. From the very beginning, there was never any doubt that we wanted to share our love by becoming parents.
After a few years of trying and a traumatic loss, we have decided to share our love by choosing adoption. The thought of parenting a child brings joy to our hearts and a big smile to our faces. We cannot wait to discover and support whatever passions a child has and become their biggest advocates and cheerleaders. We plan to share our love with a child through endless cuddling, birthday celebrations, family storytime, bike rides, trips to the park, and vacations, among many other things. We are humbled you are here, reading about our dreams.
Should you choose us as adoptive parents, we want you to know that there will always be a place for you in our family in whatever form you are comfortable with.
I’m so lucky to have Tara as my wife! I know without a doubt that she will be an outstanding, loving, and caring mother. She loves being around nieces, nephews, and friends’ kids, often being the first one to play with them, whether it’s a game ofpeek-a-boo or letting them “teach her” abouttheir toys. She has a magical way of cheering them up if they seem down.
Tara’s big nurturing heart shows through her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In addition to being there for family and friends, she spends time assisting the community through volunteer opportunities such as providing medical care at a homeless shelter. Tara’s loving and caring qualities channel into her career as a Registered Nurse. She has received multiple awards based on patients’ comments on their excellent care. She enjoys making them birthday cards and listening to their stories. She is always willing to go the extra mile to meet the needs of others, just as Iknow she will for a son or daughter.
I love how Tara puts 100% into everything she does to exceed her goals. This year she has learned to use a lawnmower, used many power tools during home improvement projects, ridden her bike many miles, and cross country skied throughout the winter. Her unending friendship, love, and steadfast support has made me a better person. I can’t wait to see her support and love a child and learn about their interests with them.
Fun Fact: Tara is a huge fan of petting farms!
I was blessed when Brian came into my life! Brian is a kind, adaptable and sincere guy that will be an amazing dad to a future son or daughter. Brian is the most thoughtful guy that I have ever known. For example, we were planning to make an apple pie to bring when visiting relatives, and he thought to make the neighbors one too!
In life, it’s usually the little things that matter the most and Brian truly understands this sentiment; he makes my breakfast every morning before I go to work! Always going above and beyond in his work as a mechanical engineer, Brian earns over 100% during his company’s reviews. He is very handy and was the one to design and build the raised vegetable garden we created this year. He also figured out materials and constructed a beautiful fitness room. He is looking forward to using his skills to create incredible spaces for a child to provide comfort, safety and growth.
Brian is an active guy. He enjoys running and biking and doing other activities with me. Brian loves kids! It warms my heart seeing him play with nieces, nephews and our friends' kids. He is always up for activities like playing with toy trucks, watching Coco Melon, pushing on stroller rides and playing with kinetic sand.
Fun Fact: Brian’s favorite drink is apple cider!
We live in a family-friendly subdivision in a suburb of Southeast Michigan. It seems there is always someone walking or biking in our neighborhood, often with their kids! We enjoy working together on house projects to make our house more of a home that is perfect for making memories and laughing. Our latest projects included adding a fitness room and raised vegetable garden! We are excited to create spaces for a child to enjoy and already have ideas for a bookshelf for storytime! Our hearts swell thinking about all of the memories we will make as a family, reading, baking, coloring, playing and exploring together.
One of the features we love most about our home’s location is the access path that is just down the street! The walking path connects to a trail that makes for an easy trip into our downtown, where there are plenty of restaurants, multiple festivals, and a yummy ice cream store. We are especially thrilled to experience the joy of children’s parks. There are some less than two miles from our home. During the summer and fall, we support local farmers at the farmers’ market, orchards, and cider mills. We always look forward to picking fruit near our home, from strawberries in June to apples in October, activities we can’t wait to share with a son or daughter.
Our faith is important to us, so we actively participate at church. Any child who joins our family will have a faith community to support them in addition to our family, friends and neighbors.
Both of our families are excited to welcome a child with open arms, and we are grateful for the unlimited support and comfort they will provide. We truly believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we have an amazing village that we would love you to be part of if you feel comfortable. We are blessed to both come from large families where everyone lives within an hour's drive. Everyone willingly pitches in when help is needed, whether it be for a moving day or to cut up a fallen tree.
Both of our parents have been happily married for over 40 years and have set an example for their children of a happy and healthy relationship. Tara has three younger sisters and Brian has two brothers and two sisters. The child who joins our family will have six cousins (ranging in age from under one year to 16 years old) to grow up and bond with.
Some of the many activities our families get together for are ball games, sibling nights, family reunions, the annual Christmas cookie exchange, and bike rides. Our favorite gatherings are celebrations of holidays and niece and nephew birthdays. We look forward to introducing a little one to our extended family who lives near Lake Huron and spending time together there. We feel it’s important for a child to know where they came from and are hopeful that we can happily welcome your family into ours.
We are excited to try new things with a son or daughter and watch as they figure out what interests them most! All the while, we will share our own hobbies and interests with him or her. We look forward to exploring the great outdoors and enjoying nature as a family through bike rides, camping trips and everyday adventures. We imagine there will be many memories made while kayaking, playing at the beach, cross country skiing, making snowmen and angels, sledding, and going to zoos and petting farms. On any given day, you can find us spending time together building puzzles, listening to music, cooking and baking, reading, doing yoga, and watching movies with popcorn.
To celebrate the holidays around our home, we enjoy watching Fourth of July fireworks, pumpkin carving, visiting Halloween displays, going to a Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree, watching Snoopy Holiday classics, and sending nieces and nephews holiday cards. We look forward to Easter egg hunts in the future! Both of our families gather for the holidays to share a meal and enjoy each other’s company.
Some of the traditions we look forward to continuing as a family include celebrating our anniversaries and birthdays, collecting Christmas ornaments on vacations, visiting the northern Michigan town where we got engaged, and admiring Michigan’s fall colors.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking us into consideration to love and care for this precious child. We would be honored for you to trust us with raising, loving and caring for a little one. Although we are not perfect, if we are chosen as an adoptive family, we are committed to giving 100% of our love and support to your child as they grow into adulthood and beyond. We are sending love and prayers for strength in making the best decision for you and your child.
