We are Jared and Bridgett, two high school sweethearts who met through mutual
friends. Bridgett is a lifelong educator who loves legos and books, and Michael is an HR
recruiter who loves to game and cook. We are huge college football fans who love to travel as
well as spend time with our families and friends. In many ways, we grew up together and have
been through many of life’s challenges, but we’ve also experienced so much joy. We truly
consider each other best friends as well as soul mates.
We decided to start a family early in our marriage, but quickly found that it would
be more challenging than we imagined. After years of fertility treatments and appointments, we
decided it was not meant to be our journey. Both of us had always felt the pull to adoption, so we
began to open our hearts to a different path toward building our family. We are so excited to be
going through the adoption process!
We both grew up in Tennessee with our families nearby and feel so fortunate to
have their support. We live in a 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home that sits on a little over half an
acre. One of our favorite parts of our home is the backyard, where can host family and friends as
well as relax when the weather is nice. We rescued two pups, Luna and Max, who love to play
fetch, go on walks around our neighborhood, and snooze on the couch.
Our parents are the biggest supporters we have and are absolutely thrilled that we will be growing our family! Jared is the youngest of three and has two older siblings, Sha and Jarrell. They love to spend time together either by hosting a cookout or visiting somewhere new. Bridgett is also the youngest and has one older brother, Craig. She has a niece, Keirstin and a nephew, Tucker. They love to share a family meal or host a game night together.
As hopeful parents, we want to raise a child who feels the safety of growing in an unconditionally loving and supportive home. We hope to instill the importance of kindness and fairness. We value teaching a child not only how to be proud of who they are, but also to respect the differences of others. We hope to foster their natural curiosity in experiencing new adventures. We hope to raise children who navigate the world with braveness and compassion.
We love to experience new adventures together. Our favorite way to spend time together is to travel to new places. Each year, we love to take a trip to somewhere we’ve never been to try new food or learn about other cultures. When we’re home, we enjoy cooking together or playing a board game. Bridgett is a bookworm, and Michael is a video gamer. We also love learning more about our community and discovering new things to do, whether it be visiting our local farmer’s market or taking a local cooking class.
As a biracial couple, we celebrate our differences every day! We are proud of the richness that our families and culture bring into our lives. We also love to learn about other cultures through travel, whether it be to admire the Gullah artisans in Charleston or to the international food festivals and museums within our own community.
