We met through a mutual friend as a result of our shared careers in the dental field. Our first date was at an Italian restaurant! Exactly eight months later, Chris proposed at the same restaurant and we were married six months following. Aside from our careers, we found we had many things in common; our faith, our Italian heritage, the fact that we were both family-oriented, and our mutual love for traveling.
Growing up, we each had many fond memories of traveling to Mackinac Island in the summers with our families, which is why we chose Mackinac for our wedding destination. We now work together in our family dental practice just five miles from our home. After adoption, Jackie plans to be a stay-at-home mom to devote time to raising this child.
There is only one word that comes to mind as we think of you and your journey to this adoption plan, “selfless.” What you are doing for this child is the most selfless thing anyone can do in this world. Please know that we did not come to this decision quickly, nor are we adopting to increase a family we already have.
We have been married for over six years and have prayed for a child since the day we said, “I do.” We miscarried a baby girl a few years ago that we named Hope and ever since then, God has been clearly guiding us toward adoption. We thank you for making this decision, and we know that whomever you choose will be the perfect match for your child.
Since the day I met Chris, I knew he would be a great husband and father. We have eight nieces and nephews and I see how he lights up when they are around. It’s clear how overjoyed the kids are when Uncle Chris walks into the room. He is truly a big kid at heart and always takes pleasure in the little things in life.
Chris is a talented dentist who takes pride in his work. He looks forward to going to work, and treats each patient like they are family. His work ethic is something I’ve always admired, and I’ve also felt assured that he will be a wonderful role model for our future family.
Chris loves holidays and family time and looks forward to decorating the Christmas tree every year with help from our two oldest nieces. He gets joy from music and constantly plays the “Guess-What-Band-This-Is?” game when the radio is on in the car. Chris also loves movies! He has quite a DVD collection and looks forward to his friend’s Oscar party every year. Some words that describe Chris are loyal, hardworking, trustworthy, fun-loving, and focused. A leader and a Godly man, Chris is very loving. When Chris asks me why I married him, my response is always because he made me feel so loved.
Everyone that meets Jackie falls in love with her. She is the true definition of a “people person.” She is the most kind-hearted person you will ever meet and always sees the good in others. Jackie is a dental hygienist and this is definitely a perfect career for her. She enjoys taking care of her patients and getting to know about their lives. She has become friends with many of her patients and even jogs with some of them!
Loving and generous, she constantly goes out of her way to do nice things for people. She truly has a heart of gold. She has a strong faith in God and prayer that guides her decision-making, both as an individual and in our partnership.
Fiercely loyal, she always looks out for her family and friends and is always there for people in their time of need – even if they didn’t ask. I am truly blessed to have her as my wife. I know she will be a fantastic mother. She has strong maternal instincts and has so much love to give. This child will be so blessed to have Jackie in his or her life as their adoptive mother.
Our neighborhood is in a large community, but our street is very tranquil. It is a dead-end street with minimal traffic and all the neighbors know each other. Our neighborhood has a lot of young families, and it has been such a joy watching them grow. The neighbors are so friendly and we look forward to summers and spending time with them on the patio. In the winter, while shoveling snow, the neighbor with the pizza oven makes individual pizzas and delivers them hot out of the oven to us in the driveway! Everyone gets their homes decked out for holidays and at Christmas time our street looks like a fantasy land with colorful lights sparkling on every house.
The schools in our area are National Exemplary Blue-Ribbon schools, which is a huge reason we chose the location of our home. There are parks all around us for children to play. We live within a few miles of a Metro park, and our city park is around the block from us. The city park has basketball courts, an ice rink in the winter, tennis courts, baseball/softball diamonds, a playground, a beautiful pond where the ducks love to gather, and a walking trail. The trails around us are endless for biking, walking, and jogging, and you can always count on seeing a few deer.
Our family and friends are extremely important to us. Chris’ immediate family consists of his parents, who have been married for over 40 years, one older brother, and two younger sisters. Chris’ siblings are all married and have eight children between them. Chris’ parents help out a lot when anyone needs babysitting.
Jackie’s immediate family consists of her mother and one younger sister. Jackie’s mom, sister, and brother-in-law live in Ohio, but we visit with them often. Jackie’s father passed away 10 years ago, and while life will never be the same without him, his amazing spirit lives on through us.
We both have big extended families with lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and their kids. Friends also play a big part in our lives. We both have lifelong friendships that date back to our childhoods; we love each other’s friends and their spouses. We are very blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives who will provide us with endless support and love.
We are both social people and our favorite thing is spending time with family and friends. We love babysitting our nieces and nephews and especially enjoy when they come over for popcorn and movie night! We have many family traditions and holidays with each of our families are always a very special time.
One family tradition is getting together with Chris’ entire extended family for Christmas Eve. When everyone is present, there are nearly 60 people in attendance. Chris’ aunt somehow manages to take a family picture every year fitting everyone in it. Being that we both come from Italian families, the food at family parties is always a highlight!
We love traveling, both as a couple as well as with our extended families. Northern Michigan and Disney World are two of our favorite places to travel to and we are excited to start making new memories on family trips with a future child. We enjoy cooking and eating out, watching movies, taking walks, golfing on occasion, reading, and relaxing.
