Hello! We are Chris and Meghan. We hope you enjoy getting to know us through our profile.
We met in 2009. Chris’s friend, Austin, was dating Meghan’s sister, Shannon, and encouraged us to meet (spoiler alert: Shannon and Austin are now married too). It wasn’t long after we began dating, that we fell in love. We enjoyed spending time with our very close, large families. We also enjoyed going to local sporting events, concerts, and playing softball. We dated for four years before getting married in the spring of 2013.
We both knew, even while we were dating, that we wanted to be parents. After having tried for just over a year, we began seeking answers to why we had not been able to conceive. Eventually, we found out we were unable to have biological children of our own. Having already been blessed by adoption (we have an adopted nephew), we knew that adoption was the journey we would take in order to grow our family.
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome a child into our lives and start this new chapter in our story together. We are looking forward to meeting you and learning more about you and your family too.
Chris is incredibly caring, kind and easy-going. Everyone who knows him is immediately drawn to him. He lights up every room he enters. He is also an incredibly hard worker and has great work ethic. As a team leader, he treats every person at work with kindness and respect. He does the same for everyone else in his life too!
As a child, Chris was always playing games and being silly to make all of those around him laugh. He played baseball and football through his teen years. You will often find him playing games with our many nieces and nephews. He is usually “all-time quarterback” for a game of football with the kids or the pitcher for a game of baseball. He will also color and play dolls with the girls. And he is always up for a dance party with all of the kids too!
When we met, I already had more than 10 nieces and nephews, so we were always surrounded by kids. Chris’s easy-going demeanor made all of the kids comfortable with him immediately. He is always the Uncle that is the first one on the floor with all of the kids, and playing like he is 10-years-old again. He is fantastic at helping to solve disagreements between the kids or make them laugh when they are not feeling well. After seeing him with these kids, I knew that any child would be incredibly lucky to have him as a father.
Meghan is a compassionate, caring, loving, funny person. She is very strong, and people see that in her. She is the person that her friends come to for guidance when times are tough, and the employee that her company depends on to handle a challenging project. As a Telecommunications Analyst, no day is ever the same for Meghan, but she works very hard for our family and still manages to have an incredible work/life balance.
Family is very important to Meghan. She comes from a large Irish family, and we have 23 nieces and nephews in total! Watching her with them always makes me realize what a great mother she will be. She will laugh and play with the kids but be stern when necessary. She will listen to the problems and have insight on how to take care of those problems.
Meghan will drop anything and everything if a family member is in need. Her strong family bond is one of the many things that attracted me to her. When her oldest sister, Theresa traveled to Ethiopia to adopt her son, Zema, Meghan traveled with her. I thought that took a lot of courage and bravery from them both.
We are both from large and very loving families. Chris is the middle child of three and his parents are James and Naomi. Chris’s father is deceased. Naomi is remarried to Chris’s step-father, Tim. He has an older brother, James (Ashley) and a younger sister, Meggie (Ryan). Chris also has two step sisters, Sarah (Micah) and Liz (Jacob). Chris is Italian, English, German, and Lebanese.
Meghan is the youngest of eight children. Meghan’s parents are Margaret and Roger. Her siblings are Theresa, Karen (Joe), Michael (Jennifer), Dennis (Jennifer), Laura (Justin), Ryan, and Shannon (Austin). Meghan is primarily Irish but is also Scottish and English.
As we mentioned already, we have 23 nieces and nephews who we absolutely adore. All of our parents and siblings live within 30 minutes of our home and we spend weekends, birthdays and holidays with them. We enjoy getting together for family dinners, game nights and taking family vacations. Everyone is very excited about our decision to adopt and looks forward to meeting the newest member of the family.
We live in a ranch style home in a safe suburban area. With three bedrooms and a big, fenced-in yard, we have more than enough space for a child to run around and play, all while being safe.
We truly love our home. We work together to keep it beautiful and welcoming for our family and friends. There is nothing that brings us more joy than hosting our loved ones. Whether it’s having everyone over for a barbeque, a sports game or to celebrate a birthday, we just love spending quality time with family and friends.
We share our home with our dog, Shep. He’s a six-year old Border Collie mix, who is very sweet and friendly. He’s got lots of energy and loves to play.
Music and sports are two things that we both really love. We typically go to multiple concerts and sporting events each year. And like most Detroiters, we are die-hard sports fans. Go Wings! Go Tigers! Go Lions!
We also love to dance. If there is music playing, you can count on us to be singing and dancing! And of course, we love just doing outdoor activities with our family and friends. In his free time, Chris enjoys playing golf, bowling and fishing. Meghan, on the other hand, enjoys playing tennis, traveling and reading books.
Each year, we try to take a trip to a location that we have never visited before. Some of our favorites have been to Tennessee, Michigan’s Upper Penninsula, and to see the Tigers play at Target Field. We also take multiple trips each summer to Meghan’s family cottage in upper Michigan. We enjoy boating, swimming and interacting with parents, siblings and nieces and nephews.
Our Favorite Family Tradition: For the past 30 years, Meghan’s family has marched in the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade. After the parade, we go to a hall to celebrate with Irish food, an Irish band and Irish dancing.
Thank you for spending time looking at our profile and getting to know us a bit better. We, along with the support of our extended families, are ready to grow our family and share our love with the addition of a child through adoption.
We think you are an incredibly selfless person and are incredibly brave for even considering an adoption plan. If chosen as the adoptive parents, we plan to honor your selflessness and bravery throughout the child’s life. We promise to love this child unconditionally and provide them with a loving, stable and open home where they can grow and express themselves freely. We also promise to talk about adoption openly and honestly, and always will remind the child of your love for them. Open adoption is something we feel strongly about, but we would like to discuss how you feel about open adoption and learn more about your vision for the future.
