Hello! We are Eric, Maggie, and Ethan from Michigan. We are excited to share our story and learn aboutyours.
We met in 2010 at a local restaurant/bar where each of us would often go to socialize, play darts, and shoot pool. We quickly figured out that we had similar interests and common beliefs and wanted to share our lives. We dated for two years, enjoying each other’s company, before getting engaged in the summer of 2012. We were married in 2013 on a beautiful sunny day in August. Our open communication and mutual respect for each other are the strengths of our marriage.
We are a fun-loving, stable, down-to-earth family that makes the most of each day and enjoys creating memories together. We have been married for almost ten years and have a caring, curious, creative little guy named Ethan. He is six years old and is learning in first grade this year. Having the opportunity of being a stay at home mom makes me happier than I could have ever imagined.
We have always desiredto have a larger family, and we have been led toward our path of adoption. After many unsuccessful attempts to grow our family biologically, we believe adoption is our path to blessing our son with a sibling. Ethan often expresseshis wishes for a little brother or sister, and we would love for this wish to come true.
We love being parents and still enjoy each other’s company and planning our next family adventure, big or small. We would love to share our lifelong adventure with another child. We are family-focused and enjoy each day watching our son try new things and figure out the world.
I remember looking at Maggie when we first started dating and thinking to myself what a great mom she would be someday. Fast forward a few years, married, having our son and finding out that I was absolutely correct. What a great mom she turned out to be! She is always playing with Ethan and filling the days with so much fun. The bond that they now share is so strong. I also know how much she would love to be a mom again for another child.
If you met Maggie, you would find her loving, caring, giving, and true to herself. She is smart, creative, and easygoing and is a gifted speech-language pathologist. She has helped so many children, which is just in her nature, and that carries over into her being a great mom. Having the opportunity to take time off to be a stay at home mom makes her happier than either of us could have ever imagined. I am thankful that she is my wife and the mother to our son.
She enjoys learning, volunteering, reading, playing, doing puzzles, traveling, and being outdoors. I would say that Maggie is well grounded, has a big heart, can find a teaching moment in any situation, and is a great mother.
Eric is kind, caring, and adventurous. He is an amazing husband and loving dad. He is thoughtful, funny, and personable. He can strike up a conversation with anybody and sees the good in people. Eric’s priority is his family, specifically playing with our son and making memories together. He is often involved in building Legos, playing kitchen, having a lightsaber duel, or drawing.
Eric is great with his hands and able to successfully complete any home project with ease. He always has his little helper right there with him, and he takes the time to explain each step and tool in the process. Having Ethan be his helper may take a bit longer but is enjoyed so much more because the task is being shared.
He is a leader and is valued at his place of work. He is on a community impact team, volunteers, and likes helping others.
Eric loves spending his time outdoors, fishing, golfing or sitting by a glowing bonfire. He’s an avid sports fan and enjoys attending sporting events. Eric takes pride in our home and taking care of our yard. He often takes nature walks with our son and teaches him how to identify plants and trees by their leaves as well as which animal made which track.
We are thankful for our son, Ethan. He brings so much joy, laughter, and happiness to us. He is thoughtful, energetic, happy, and has a silly nature. He is a good friend and has a smile that lights up the room.
Ethan is a crafter and little engineer who always collects various items and craft supplies to make his next masterpiece. You often hear Ethan singing while he plays and he makes up his own lyrics!
He would love a sibling to play with and share and teach everything that he knows. Ethan will be a great big brother, and looks forward to the moment that he can say that he is finally a big brother.
If you could peek into our home, you would see our little boy’s colorful artwork and crafts throughout, from the refrigerator to his bedroom walls. Seeing it displayed brings us such a sense of joy. You would usually find a 1000-piece puzzle in progress on our dining room table and toys happily strewn around the room.
Our home is a two-story with four bedrooms and four baths, allowing future children to have their own space. One bedroom is our nursery, waiting to be filled with coos, laughter, and songs shared with a little one. It is a spacious home with ample areas to play and live. We have a finished basement with a great space to craft and play. In our rec room, there is an abundance of toys, games, books, puzzles, and activities for all ages. Our game shelf has all types of games and puzzles. We enjoy playing games or cards with each other and with friends. Euchre and Scrabble are our current favorites.
We live in a quiet residential neighborhood within an excellent school district. From picking beans in the garden to climbing trees, jumping on the trampoline, swinging, digging in the sandbox, or just kicking a ball into the goal, our backyard is the perfect place for children to play and explore.
We are fortunate to have a close relationship with our family. It is also an added bonus that we can easily get together with any of our family members, either planned or spontaneously. Most of our family is local, and the rest are within a day’s drive. We get together to celebrate birthdays and holidays, which usually includes an elaborate amount of food, an abundance of laughter, and stories being shared. We also enjoy planning fun activities like trying a new restaurant, going bowling, or taking in a show.
Each summer, we spend a week with each of our extended families. It is something we look forward to all year. It is a great time to get together and have all the cousins bond and play together. You usually find us in the water, boating, paddleboarding, or just catching crayfish. We may take a hike, explore nature and take in the rivers and waterfalls. These are some of our fondest memories from childhood; we’ve continued them with this generation and can’t wait to share them with another child.
Our family and friends are very supportive and excited for us to expand our family through adoption. They know that we want a large family and are glad that we have an adoption plan. They’re happy that Ethan will have a sibling to grow up with and share his adventures.
We enjoy simple things such as family, friends, our cottage, adventures, travels, and quality time together. Ethan’s favorite activities at the cottage are swimming, fishing, finding Petoskey stones, and learning to surf. At home, you find us enjoying our deck and backyard, which is a perfect place for children to play and explore.
Spring
We are on a mission to design and plant our garden as well as prepare our yard. Each year Ethan chooses one special new plant to nourish and grow. We enjoy landscaping with beautiful plants and flowers, making our home warm and welcoming.
Summer
We are outdoors entertaining and having backyard barbeques with friends and family. There is a buzz of happy noises as our deck is always in use and yard games are being played. We love spending quality time at our cottage and playing in the water. We also travel up north to the upper peninsula each summer to take in nature and visit with family. We celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and family every year.
Fall
We cheer on the Irish and attend Notre Dame football games with family. We also enjoy visiting various orchards, apple picking, and traipsing through the pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin.
Winter
Our family gathers to share Thanksgiving and Christmas. Playing music, drinking hot cocoa, and decorating the house for Christmas is a highlight. We make a sledding hill in our backyard, and the neighborhood kids come over to play. After the new year, we plan our winter getaway to somewhere warm.
An open adoption is such a gift. We realize this is a challenging time for you, and we will welcome your child into our family with open arms and hearts. This child will be loved and supported by all of us emotionally and physically.
We would love to have another child not only to grow our family but to provide them the opportunity to develop and to express who God made them to be. We can’t wait to share everyday moments with you as the child develops and reaches their full potential. We will offer love, guidance, and support toward raising a happy, healthy, well-adjusted child.
We want Ethan to have a sibling to play with, and share his adventures with, so they will experience that special sibling bond. We want your child to have the same experiences as our son and share family time, build traditions, play, and enjoy learning.
Thank you for considering joining our family.
