Hello, we are Karl and Amanda! Thank you for choosing to look at our story and about us as prospective parents.
We met in November 2013, after first communicating through a dating app. After some time had passed and we were about to give up, we logged on and saw we had a message from one another. From that point forward, we couldn’t wait to get home from work to see if there was a new message waiting. We decided to meet at a local coffee shop and talked until they closed. We were married the following summer, in July of 2014.
After a year of marriage, we decided that we would start to grow our little family. A year passed with no luck, so we sought medical help, and after two failed attempts with a ton of medications, we took a step back, prayed, and felt peace about adoption being the way we would grow our family. We look forward to welcoming the beautiful child into our home and hearts through open adoption.
We live in a cozy home with a built-in shop which my husband loves. Our favorite space in the house is the big tree in the back. It reminds us of the woods. We love spending time back there when we can. We envision a child swinging on a tire swing while listening to the birds chirping from above.
There are families of all ages in the community where we live. We love diversity and look out for each other and help each other whenever there is a need. I love that we still have our privacy but know who we can go to for help.
The best part of living in Idaho is that we live in a valley. So, we are close to the mountains and can get to them quickly. We also are very close to family, parks, museums, and our capital which allows for fun and learning opportunities. There are so many cultures surrounding us that you can always learn more about them. We can't wait to explore these sites with a child.
Our Extended Family
In our home, you will not find a single spot that isn't full of love. Everyone has been supportive of us throughout our adoption journey. Growing up, we were close to our families, and today we continue that closeness by enjoying time together every chance we get. To have parents, siblings, aunts and uncles, grandmothers and nephews, and nieces in the same town is such a memorable and fantastic experience. We can't wait to pass on family values to the next generation.
Both sides of our family have already bought clothes and toys to spoil the future little one that joins our circle. With everyone so close, there will be lots to eat on Thanksgiving, loads of fun and Christmas presents, and plenty of BBQ and family camping trips! Everyone is excited to welcome a new member into our family.
Our hobbies are so unique from each other. Amanda likes to read, knit, and do diamond art to distract herself, while Karl likes to play video games, paint miniatures for a game, and work on vehicles occasionally. We both enjoy playing PC games with each other as well as board games. Hiking, camping, and exploring new places around us are activities that we enjoy doing together. We explored an old gold mine mill and discovered that Amanda's great uncle worked there. By going and exploring, you always find or learn something new.
Traditions are significant to our family and us. Our times together mainly involve eating and spending time with each other. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, we always figure out how to spend time with both sides of the family. For Christmas Eve, we celebrated with Amanda's side of the family. We tell the story of Jesus' birth and sing him happy birthday. On Karl's side, we do food and a white elephant gift exchange, where we give the gift to the person chosen in a drawing on Thanksgiving. We spend Christmas day as a couple exchanging gifts and helping the dogs open their presents. Then we cook breakfast and pray to God to thank him for sending his son.
Our Promise to You
We would love to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We strongly desire to be parents and dream of holding a child, cuddling, playing, and teaching them all the good things life offers. We intend to bless the child we adopt with everything we have and more. They will know love, adventure, family, health, and an excellent education.
If we are the right fit for you, we hope to meet you someday and develop a friendship to whatever level feels comfortable for you. We see you as such a brave, caring soul for bringing this beautiful child into the world. Your baby will always know that you loved them.
We pray that you know how loved you are as you sort out what is best for you and your baby.
