Lance grew up in a small town in central Kentucky. He has two older sisters and his
parents have been married for 44 years. Lance is an uncle to two nieces, Madison &
Lauren. Lance is a big family man! He talks to his parents daily and works with his dad
to run the cattle farm. Lance enjoys being outside, being at the farm, grilling delicious
steaks, going to the lake, fishing, watching football, and spending time with his family.
Sports are a big part of his life. Lance played football in high school, and now enjoys
coaching Henry and his youth football team. After high school, Lance went to college at
University of Kentucky and received a degree in Civil Engineering.
Margaret also grew up in the same small town as Lance! While in high school, Margaret
played basketball, enjoyed spending time with friends, and going to football games on
Friday nights! Margaret continued onto Western Kentucky University where she finished
with a degree in Exceptional Education for grades K-12. Now she works as a Special
Education teacher for students with learning and behavior disorders. Margaret has
always had a love for children, not only at work, but for her nieces as well. Margaret is a
proud aunt to 2 nieces, Ellie & Charlotte. Margaret enjoys listening to audiobooks, going
to the lake, traveling, and watching a movie on the couch at home with popcorn!
We originally met in high school and were just friends at first. In high school, Lance was
one year older than Margaret therefore time continued to pass, and they remained
mutual friends. Fast forward to a year later, we were attending two different colleges–on
opposite ends of the state– and got set up by a mutual friend through a telephone call.
After that phone call things were never the same, and then that summer while both of us
were living back home from college our relationship went into full swing. We continued
our long-distance relationship when we went back to college that Fall. We made it
through with many trips back and forth to see each other!
With both finishing up college and ready to move onto the next step in life, Lance
surprised Margaret with a proposal surrounded by our family and friends to celebrate.
Soon after the proposal, we both graduated from college. Later that same year, we got
married at our hometown church followed with a big celebration after! Now as a couple
we love to watch movies, take time for date nights, be outside, go to the lake, watch
sporting events, and enjoy time on our farm.
We are so ready to share our unconditional love with another child in order to grow and
complete our family!
We live in a family-oriented neighborhood, a short drive or walk to the park, library,
church, and school. We live right across the street from our best friends (and their 2
boys), Hillary & Terrence, as well as living close to several other family members! Our
home has 4 bedrooms, a basement with a playroom, inviting living room, and a large
fenced in backyard with a playset. Our favorite place in our house is our backyard
because we love to spend time outside! We have one pet dog, Scout. He is a bordoodle
(mix of border collie and poodle). Scout is 4 years old and fits in great with our family!
Lance has a large family. Lance has 2 sisters who are both married and is an uncle to
his 2 nieces, Madison & Lauren! Most of his family members were born, raised, and
continue to live in the same small town. Therefore, Lance can remain close and see his
aunts, uncles, and cousins on a regular basis.
Margaret is from a large close-knit family. She is the oldest of 4 children. She has one
sister, Lizzy, and two brothers, Curry & Paul. Margaret remains close with her sister and
brothers and grew up (and has remained) close to many of her aunts, uncles, and
cousins! There is something special about your children playing sports with your
cousin’s kids!
When raising a child, we strive to teach life lessons through our everyday routine and schedule.
Not only are we intentional about building a stable, healthy, and trusting relationship with each
of our children, but we want to instill values that will lead to success in life. Our goal is for our
child/children to know that we, as his or her parents, are always going to be there no matter what.
We have been blessed with 3 healthy boys, but we always knew, even before having children,
that adoption would be a part of our family in some way or another. We have prayed & put much
thought into how adoption would be a part of our life. We truly feel that adoption is the way that
we can complete our family.
Together as a family we like to try new things, go different places, and explore the world
around us! We go on a summer vacation with our extended families, travel to Gatlinburg
for Thanksgiving, and recently took our family to the beaches of Texas to see a different
view of the ocean! We are fortunate enough to live in a beautiful part of the world, so we
also like to experience some of the great aspects of life we have right in front of us! In
our free time you can find us outside in our backyard, at a sporting event, or enjoying a
boat ride at the lake. We love to go out to eat, taking golf cart rides, going on outings to
the park or zoo, sitting by the pool, family movie night, and travel different places with
our family!
Within our immediate and extended families, we have a variety or cultures represented that our
children are exposed to. Different cultures and traditions are discussed in family conversations to
teach our children that God made everyone different in a good way to make the world a better
place. We instill in our family that diversity helps us realize that we are kind and respectful to all
no matter the race or culture.
We have always wanted a big family and have been fortunate enough to have 3 healthy
boys. We knew that we wanted to include adoption in our family story. We are excited to
share our unconditional love and support to your child.
We are so excited to open our hearts and home to welcome a new miracle, your loving
child and caring for him or her every second!
Always know that your child will have siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins
that will all show their love unconditionally. Please know that we will cherish your child
and make sure that he or she will be so proud to be adopted. We hope that this book
gave you a look into our lives and we look forward to meeting you. Thank you for taking
the time to read this.
