It’s so wonderful to meet you! We are Michael and Laura. We met on a blind date which we believe was divinely guided. We were married for eternity in 2012 and now have three wonderful children. We have thoroughly enjoyed parenthood together, even more than we could have dreamed! Having a large family is something we have both always wanted, and we’re now pursuing adoption since Laura has a uterine condition which makes pregnancy difficult and risky. We have so much unconditional love to share and are excited to begin this next chapter in our family’s story.
We make each other happy and like we say “We are a great team!” We strive every day to be gentle and loving towards one another. Laura inspires, and Mike is our rock. We have lots of fun together and always make time for one another.
We like to seek out adventure. We have traveled to Europe, numerous surrounding states, and we enjoy camping. We hope to return to Europe when our kids are old enough to appreciate the rich history there. For now, we enjoy family trips to beautiful National parks and museums!
More About Us:
We are Christian and part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
We have two sons, Robert (6) and Dallin (2), and one daughter, Julia (4)
Mike is a civil engineer and Laura is a stay-at-home mom
Our favorite date includes a mountain hike and Thai food!
We have a cozy, six-bedroom, three-bath home on a hobby farm in a friendly, suburban Utah neighborhood. We live on a half-acre and have a lawn, shade trees, a sandbox, and several play structures. It’s ‘Our little slice of Heaven’ and the kids spend a couple of hours in our backyard each day enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, flowers, bugs, dirt, and animals. A perfect childhood!
The kids learn responsibility and nurturing from caring for the animals. They also learn about the ways of life by watching the baby bunnies, goats, and chicks grow and change each day. We also love that the kids know where milk, eggs, and vegetables come from!
Our playroom is a place full of imagination and creation. We believe in educational toys that encourage problem-solving, conflict resolution, and skill-building. We read together for about an hour a day from our personal library of over 200 children’s books.
Our neighborhood is filled with the friendliest people! They all have gardens and share surplus produce with each other. We are only 20 minutes from Mike’s parents, brothers, Laura’s 50 cousins, a beautiful aquarium, mountain hikes, bike paths, children’s museums, and Mike’s employment. We also live just five minutes from schools, and many great parks.
Both sets of our parents love to be involved with the grandkids and babysit. In addition to them, Mike has two younger brothers and Laura has six siblings. We are grateful that our kids have at least a dozen young cousins to be their friends as they grow.
You often will find us with extended family on playdates and Sunday dinners. We also believe holidays are best celebrated with extended family! Gingerbread houses are sweeter with cousins and children feel more celebrated on their birthdays when they are also surrounded by adoring Grandparents.
Around Christmas, we choose to focus on Jesus, who is the reason for the season. The kids get so excited to help us decorate the tree and set up the nativity. We always make homemade gifts for our friends and family, and the kids love to help. We try to show them the joy of giving home-made gifts to family members and sharing your heart. One year we crocheted 100 snowflake ornaments. Another year made re-heatable fabric rice sacks.
If we are chosen as the adoptive family, your child will always be surrounded by love. Our parents and siblings are so excited about the prospects of us enlarging our family through adoption, as are our children and their cousins!
We want to express our sincere love to you during this difficult time. We admire your strength in choosing life. Our children are the JOY of our life, and we cannot wait to multiply that love with another baby.
If chosen as the adoptive family, your child will always know their story and that their adoption was out of your love and concern for them. We promise to love them unconditionally and provide a safe place for him/her to grow into their own personality. We will provide your child with structure, routine, and consistency. We will also try to be flexible to say “Yes!” to their requests for spontaneous fun. Your child will be raised around siblings who will be his/her best friends, and by a loving and fun stay-at-home mother.
We promise to be honest and transparent as we navigate an adoption together, open or otherwise. We are happy to welcome any gender or race, an infant or older child, or multiple children.
Wishing you the best.
Love,
Mike and Laura
