Hi, we are Rob and Jessica! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and getting to know our family.
Our story began in 2010 while we were both volunteering for our church’s youth program. After getting to know each other as fun-loving volunteers, the Youth Director suggested we work on a special event together. This collaboration encouraged our friendship, and we eventually started spending more time with one another. As leaders in our church, our relationship developed with the wary eyes of the various teens we mentored. With this in mind, we built our relationship on honoring God, those around us, and each other. Today, our journey continues with this same foundation, just with more pages to the story.
Adoption has always held a special place in our hearts. After several years of desiring a child, infertility treatments, and being unable to conceive, we began growing our family through adoption. In 2019, we were blessed to adopt our son, Jameson. Now we are ready to begin the adoption journey again, and we look forward to what this adventure holds.
Rob is hardworking, caring, and adventurous. Rob has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) in Technical Theatre and a Master’s of Divinity. For the time being, Rob has decided to put on hold the work of a pastor in favor of working with students. He currently works at a local school district as the Director of Transportation. Rob does all the work behind the scenes to get students to school safely.
Rob possesses a love of teaching and carries this into each of his relationships. As a dad, Rob gets excited to show Jameson new things. Rob will be found on the floor playing with Jameson, helping him figure out a new toy or how to use a tool, building a blanket fort or playing on the playground . Rob also prides himself on his ‘quality’ dad jokes.
Rob cares for his church community as he serves in a leadership role, plays the drums on Sunday, and takes the church’s van to the retirement home to pick up members who can no longer drive.
Rob enjoys telling stories, playing board games, and being goofy when it strikes him. Rob values history, culture, and learning. Rob is a mechanic for fun and enjoys attending car shows, working on and restoring his Firebird, and going for a drive.
The first thing most people notice about Jessica is her smile, probably because she is always smiling. Beneath that quiet smile is a heart overflowing with love for all of God’s creation. Jessica chooses to be relentlessly positive. Jessica’s actions are motivated by genuine love, whether people, animals (especially cows), or the majesty of the great outdoors.
I see it in her deep, lasting friendships. She patiently plays the role of mama to Jameson, and “dog mom” to our dog, Jake. Jessica’s love for people is displayed clearly in her genuine care and compassion for those around her.
Jessica enjoys doing anything outdoors with friends and family—hiking, camping, biking, and sitting by the fire. Jessica has fun experiencing and learning about the world with Jameson. She frequently takes Jameson to the beach, zoo, or other cultural centers nearby, including gardens, museums, parks, and more.
Jessica’s love for people shows in her career as a professional counselor. Jessica has a Master’s degree in Counseling and enjoys walking alongside individuals and families who are struggling and working with them to help them grow. Jessica owns a small online counseling business where she works two days a week and stays home with Jameson for the rest of the week. While Jessica is at work, her mom watches Jameson.
Jameson is ready to be a big brother. His goofy and outgoing personality allow him to make new friends easily. Jameson loves being around other people and making them laugh. He is a good “little brother” to our dog, Jake, and enjoys throwing the ball and laughs when Jake runs to retrieve it. He is also a good “big cousin” and is looking forward to when his cousins are old enough to run around and play with. Jameson possesses a curiosity about the world around him and is excited about new adventures, experiences, and exploring new places. Jameson’s favorite place is anywhere outside! When we go camping in the summer and fall months, Jameson is in his element.
Jameson enjoys biking on his balance bike, playing at the playground or with other children, playing in the sand or with cars and trucks. Jameson is a kindhearted, thoughtful, helpful, and friendly little man. He often voluntarily shares toys and snacks with others (including the dog) and helps us with chores around the house. Jameson often reminds us to find joy in small things and encourages us to always be excited about life’s adventure.
Our home is a cozy space with enough room for our family to grow. We enjoy hosting family and friends for social gatherings, bonfires, and game nights. We present a tidy home that is welcoming and comfortable. Our family enjoys being outside as our yard has several mature trees that provide cool shade in the warm summer months.
Our neighbors are awesome! There is a great age and cultural diversity, with several young families and some older couples. We are a short walk from an elementary school and playground, local businesses, and restaurants. We are also a short drive from several area parks and trails. Our neighborhood is both quiet and close to everything.
We share our home with Jake, our 7-year-old Black Lab and Australian Shepherd mix. Jake and Jameson are great friends. Jake enjoys being near Jameson at all times. Jake also enjoys snack time as sometimes Jameson will sneak him a cracker.
In our home, Jessica enjoys cooking and baking while Rob keeps everything working as it should. We share less enjoyable chores, such as—dishes, laundry, and cleaning. Jameson even helps with chores by wiping up after meals, putting toys away, and putting laundry in the dirty clothes chute.
We celebrate Christmas, Easter, and other Christian holidays. We enjoy gathering with family and attending church services on holidays. We also gather with family for birthdays and other occasions.
We are really close to both of our families. They live near us, and we enjoy getting together frequently for various adventures.
Jessica grew up with her parents and siblings in a tight-knit family. Her family regularly takes vacations together, has family gatherings, participates in community events including—theatre productions, fairs, dinners, and other fun outings. Growing up, Jessica’s grandparents participated in everyday life events and special outings. Though age has slowed her grandparents down, both sets of grandparents are still actively involved in family life and enjoy spending time with Jameson. Currently, Jessica’s immediate family consists of her parents (who are married), her brother and his wife and son, and Jessica’s sister and her husband and son. The whole family (including the dogs) gather together monthly just to connect and hangout. Jameson is the oldest of three grandchildren. Jessica’s mom watches Jameson while Jessica works two days a week.
Rob grew up with his parents and sister. His family enjoys attending baseball games together and gathering over meals to connect. Rob’s sister lives out of state, so we see her on an annual basis, whereas Rob’s parents we connect with monthly. Rob’s immediate family includes his parents (who are married), and his sister.
Our family is very involved with our friend group and regularly gather together. Most of our friends have children who are a similar age to Jameson or younger. Jameson enjoys getting to spend time with other children. Sometimes he will sit back and watch them until he feels comfortable to be his outgoing self. Our friends gather for game nights, bonfires, camping trips, going to get ice cream, and just hanging out. Having close friendships is important to us, and providing opportunities for Jameson to make close friends is important too.
As a family, we love to be outdoors, traveling, and learning. Spring, summer, and fall weekends, you will find us camping at various state parks or in the forest. We often go hiking, biking, and swimming while we’re camping.
We also enjoy traveling and exploration. We have taken trips to Creede, Colorado, Disney, Mackinac Island, and we look forward to many more adventures. During the winter months, we frequent cultural centers, museums, and live theatre. We enjoy the opportunity to learn about other cultures, history, and drama.
Thank you for taking the time to see a snapshot of our lives. We admire the courage you have in creating an adoption plan for your child. As potential adoptive parents, we are committed to maintaining communication with you throughout your child’s life; if this is what you desire. We want you to know, we will love and welcome your child into our home and our hearts. Your child will grow up knowing their story and, most importantly, that you love them. We wish you peace and confidence as you choose what is best for your child.
