Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are Sara and Brian, a very artsy
couple who are extremely excited to adopt a child. You will get to know us in this
book and see who we are and our story. Our promise to you is to welcome your child
into our family with open arms and hearts. We have so much love and life to give a
little one and we thank you for the opportunity to introduce ourselves.
Brian and Sara met in Aurora, Illinois while we were in high school. Sara’s 2 friends met Brian’s
2 friends one day while walking around downtown. They all made plans to hang out again and
“bring Brian and Sara next time”. The second we met, all bets were off. Problem was, we never
dated in high school because Sara’s best friend had a huge crush on Brian! And, Sara couldn’t do
that to her, so she didn’t. We all stayed friends throughout high school bonding over art and
music. After high school, Sara went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Brian went
to Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. After Sara’s freshman year in college we lost
touch for a bit, dated other people, but always wondered what the other one was up to. We got
back in touch, and Sara went to go visit Brian and his college roommates who were all her old
friends too. After such a fun weekend of laughs and making memories, we both knew. We started
dating long distance and Brian got into a signed heavy metal band and was about to tour the
country. Distance didn’t shake our relationship whatsoever- if anything, it made us stronger. Our
foundation of friendship first and communication over everything is what has always bonded us
from the start. We had a beautiful wedding, Brian made some career changes after he was tired of
being on the road for more than half the year, and Sara found her dream teaching job at one of
the best private schools in the nation. We tried having a child but after a few rounds of IUI
treatments, Sara got tired of medications and doctor appointments. We realized it’s about the
family, not the act of being pregnant. It was never about that to us. Our friends have said they
envy our relationship and what we have built. We say it’s easy when there’s constant
communication on a foundation of love. That’s the home we are ready to welcome a child into.
We live in Nashville, Tennessee in a brick ranch home in a wonderful neighborhood close to
everything. We live on a half acre on a quiet street with a creek in our backyard. We have 2 cats
and a dog that we adore and spend lots of our time with. All of our animals have been rescues
and we take our dog on daily walks. We have a park in our neighborhood and a walking path.
Brian built a deck, a stock tank pool, and a screened in porch in our backyard that we spend all of
our summers in.
Sara is an only child and both of her parents live 3 miles away! Brian’s parents live in California
but hope to move to the Nashville area very soon. Brian has one brother who lives in Oregon. We are extremely close to both of our parents, and have Sunday dinners at Sara’s parents house each
week. Sara and Brian have lots of cousins they are close to that they visit in Illinois or they travel
to Nashville at least once a year.
Raising a child in a loving, kind, and accepting household is our priority. We value the arts,
individuality, and self expression and would nurture a child in those areas. We value the golden
rule of treating others as you want to be treated and expressing your emotions in healthy ways. I
believe one of the main meanings in life is to have a sense of humor! Humor is key to enjoying
life’s daily moments.
We tried 3 rounds of IUI after being unable to conceive naturally. We really didn’t enjoy all of
the doctors and medications surrounding that route, so we came to discussing adoption. It was
never important to us if the child was biologically ours. Brian’s mother is adopted and Sara has 3
adopted cousins. Many of the students Sara teaches are adopted also, so it seemed like the perfect
fit and we are so excited about it now.
We spend time at home watching documentaries, tv shows, and movies. We love having dinner
parties with friends and occasionally going to concerts. We enjoy traveling to different places
whether it’s small towns that are a car ride away or overseas. We have been to Italy 3 times and
Sara went to Spain with her students in 2022.
Sara is half Italian and half Scottish. Sara is second generation American with her grandparents
coming over from Italy, Sicily, and Scotland. Her family raised her to celebrate her heritage on a
consistent basis through food, travel, language, and traditions.
Brian’s father was raised Jewish and his mother is caucasian. Brian’s father’s side is second
generation American coming over from Germany.
Brian and Sara take great pride in celebrating both of their heritages and would do the same with
your child. Sara celebrates cultural diversity in her students regularly by teaching about different
artists from all walks of life.
We have always dreamed about being parents and having a child to raise in a loving
home! We are very excited to be adopting and have so much love to share for your child
as we expand our family. Please always know we will unconditionally love and cherish
your child and we will
make sure that he/she will be proud to be adopted. We hope this gave you a look at our
lives and we look forward to meeting you. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
