Hi, we are Tim and Mandi. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us.
We both grew up in small towns in the same area of Michigan. Although we both went to the same high school and knew of each other, we did not begin our relationship until 2008 when mutual friends brought us together. We got married in 2011 and in 2012, we purchased our home out in the country.
We both have always wanted to have a family together. After several years of trying to get pregnant unsuccessfully and multiple fertility treatments, we felt that God was leading us in a different direction of adoption. We had the pleasure of adopting our son, Isaiah, a little over two years ago at birth. He has truly been a blessing to our lives, and we look forward to adding another child to our family through adoption.
My wife, Mandi, is a loving, caring, and kind-hearted person. She values time with our family and her faith in God. She also has an incredible sense of humor and is great at making me laugh!
All of these wonderful qualities make Mandi an incredible mother to our son, Isaiah. They also are what led her to get a degree in elementary education. Mandi has always loved working with children and she now really enjoys teaching a children’s worship class at our church.
In her free time, Mandi likes to relax and read a good book or watch a movie. I have enjoyed seeing her read all of the children’s books that she has collected over the years with our son, Isaiah. She also enjoys playing with him outside in the yard.
Tim is a hard worker. He likes to fix things himself. He also likes to take things apart, see how they operate and then put them back together. He especially likes to work on our old jeep and work on his R/C cars. He learned to work with his hands from his dad and hopes to be able to pass that onto the kids, as well. .
It’s been amazing to watch Tim as a father. He is great with our son, our niece and our friends’ kids. He likes to play on the floor with them and read them stories. I also enjoy watching all the fun things he comes up with to do with our son. I can’t wait to watch him come up with new things to do with another child!
Tim really is just a loving and caring person. I know that any child who joins our family will always be able to go to Tim with any problem they have and will trust him to be there for them.
Isaiah is a fun, outgoing and adventurous two-year-old, who loves to be outside and to explore everything. He has a cheerful personality and just loves to goof around. In the last year he has spent a lot of time with his grandfather on the farm and there aren't many places he would rather be than riding in a tractor. He enjoys playing with his toy tractors and even watching them on TV. We go camping a lot in the summer and Isaiah absolutely loves the extra time outside playing in the big sandbox and on the playground equipment.
Isaiah is excited about becoming a big brother. When he is around other babies he likes to always check that they are ok and makes sure they have what they need like a blanket or a toy. He is always willing to share his own toys with other children, and whenever we ask him about wanting another sibling he always says, “yes!” We are excited to see Isaiah become a big brother and to grow up alongside this next child, sharing the special bond of adoption.
We live in a traditional, ranch-style house. When we purchased the house in 2012, we had some fixing-up to do. It had a lot of outdated wallpaper, which we immediately removed and painted the walls with color to give it a warm and inviting feel. Our favorite part of the house is the big backyard. It’s a perfect place for the kids to play!
Our home is in a quiet, rural neighborhood where you can still look up and see the stars at night. Many of our relatives live close by, as do many of our friends. This means the kids will have plenty of playmates nearby and that they are able to spend time with the animals on Mandi’s family farm.
Our home is just outside of a couple small towns that offer many events throughout the year such as festivals, parades, and a children’s splash pad. The schools here are known to have great programs and will be able to give a child an excellent education. This really is just a wonderful place to raise a family!
We both come from large extended families with many aunts, uncles, and cousins that enjoy getting together several times a year. We usually spend Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas enjoying a large meal together. Both of our families are very excited to welcome a new member to our family, especially our parents who LOVE being grandparents.
Mandi was raised on a farm that is still owned by her family. It’s not too far away from where we live, so we visit quite often. We love bringing Isaiah there to enjoy all the exciting things that a farm has to offer, and we know that this next child will love visiting too!
We also have a small group of very close friends that are like family to us. Our families spend a lot of time together and take camping trips together in the summer and fall. Many of our friends already have young kids, and all the little ones like playing and having fun together.
Our families raised us in the Christian faith and taught us the importance of going to church and living a Godly life. These are things we hope to share with the kids as well. We already attend a really friendly and welcoming church in town, which has a wonderful children’s ministry that Isaiah enjoys taking part in.
Spring: Easter is a time when we get together as a family to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each year, we have a big family dinner together with all of our relatives.
Summer: During the summer, we enjoy spending time camping together as a couple and also with friends. On these trips, we do things like hike, bike and kayak. We have loved sharing these activities with Isaiah and can’t wait for another child to experience them!
Fall: One fall tradition that we look forward to each year is a costume Thanksgiving party with our friends that we call “Thanks-o-ween.” It is a fun time for everyone to dress up and enjoy a Thanksgiving-style dinner together.
Winter: We enjoy taking Isaiah sledding and riding our snowmobile around the yard!
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us to become a part of your life. We admire your bravery and the love that you have for this child in considering an adoption plan.
We promise to love and accept the child as our own. We will teach them about how much God loves them and will encourage them to become their own person. We promise to provide a fun, loving, safe and nurturing home for the child to grow up in surrounded by friends and family to encourage and care for them along the way.
We are open to any level of openness that you would prefer. We would love for the child to have a relationship with their birth family. We want them to grow up knowing where they came from and we will teach them about the loving sacrifice that you made from the very beginning.
Thank you again for considering us to raise and care for your child. We wish you the very best in the journey that you are on and look forward to getting to know you as well!
