Travis is the kind of person who makes sure he’s well-prepared for everything he does. He’s very competitive when playing board games with our friends and family. And even though he likes to win, he has a generous heart. He works with several non-profit organizations making sure that youth have opportunities to develop artistic skills. For work, Travis is a research director for an organization focused on women’s equality and also teaches sociology classes at a nearby university. Giving back to the community is important to him!
Nick’s love of helping others is what took him to Thailand where he worked with the Peace
Corps to help teach foreign students. He makes instant friends wherever he goes since he is so
friendly and likable. He works with international students, helping them transition to life at college in the U.S. Nick is from a big family that he gets to spend a lot of time with since they all
live close by. He enjoys volunteering his time working with young artists with disabilities at a
local non-profit organization.
We met serendipitously in 2018 at an art event. It might sound cliche, but they met at just the
right time – it was love at first sight – and we’ve been together ever since that art event. We love
to go camping at nearby state parks, traveling and exploring new places, and spending time
with our big extended family. We recently bought our first home and have enjoyed learning new
skills together – whether it’s how to grow a wildflower garden, or renovate a bathroom – we’re
always excited for a new adventure. We can’t wait to welcome a new member of our family
home to share our journey with.
Two years ago, we bought our first home. We’ve loved fixing it up and making it ours. People
always ask us who is more of the “handy-man,” but the truth is, we both take on different kinds
of projects and work really well together! Travis always has ideas for the next project we should
undertake, while Nick is great about keeping our projects working smoothly. This past summer,
we grew a wildflower garden that was really popular with our neighbors.
Recently, we rescued two stray kittens and have welcomed them into our home. We named the
two sisters Noodles and Rice and they have such very different personalities! Noodles is a silly
and adventurous kitty who loves to be pet. Rice is more quiet and likes to play hide-and-seek.
But once you find her, she loves her belly rubs! Noodles and Rice constantly make us laugh –
they love to chase each other and play with their little cat toys!
We are so fortunate to have such supportive families and friends. Whether we are having
family-style dinners, playing cards, camping, or attending music concerts, we enjoy spending
time with the people we love! Nick’s family all live very close to us, which allows us to see each
other often. Even though Travis’ family now lives in Texas, we are still fortunate to see them
several times a year! Both of our families are excited to welcome a new member to our family
and are eager to support us.
Starting a family has been a dream for us for many years now. We both enjoy time with our
nephews and nieces and hope to have children of our own to care for. We hope to foster a love of
art and reading, cultivating a curious minds, and instilling a commitment to having fun too. For
us, it’s what family is all about!
We have dreamed of beginning a family together and since we are unable to have children on our
own, we feel that adoption is the right choice for us. We want to provide a loving, nurturing
home for a child. For years now, we have been preparing to start a family and feel that we are
now in a position to be fathers. We are grateful for the opportunity to be considered.
We live in a close-knit residential neighborhood just minutes away from a larger city. Even
though we just moved to this neighborhood, we’ve made many great friends with our neighbors.
We love that we are within walking distance of several parks, the library, and “the avenue,”
which has lots of little shops and restaurants. We also love being close to so many art galleries,
museums, the zoo, and different festivals in the city. There is always something fun to do here!
One of our favorite things to do is to go to the community parades around the city. They are
always fun for everyone and we can’t wait to attend the parades as a family.
Diversity is ingrained into the fabric of our identities. Nick travels internationally for his work
and has a deep appreciation and respect for other cultures. Travis’ career has been centered
around gender and racial equity. We both enjoy learning more about other groups of people and
sharing our own unique story as well.
We’d like to thank you for taking the time to read through our profile. We understand that this is
a complex decision to make. We promise to provide a loving, supportive and nurturing home.
We plan to be open and honest about our family’s adoption journey, and share with them our
whole hearts.
